Online MBA University Of Liverpool

Q: I searched google groups, but I didn't find enough contributions concerning the online MBA at the University of Liverpool (UoL). I am interessted in a 100% online MBA, so one of the programs I found was the online MBA at UoL. Can you please shed some lights on the following points: 1. The UoL admission advisor is pushing me too much to apply, the thing that makes me a bit uncertain about the program and its quality. 2. The admission advisor works in Holland instead of being in Liverpool ? Even though the Masters Software comes from Holland, I still can't get it why the advisors have to be in Holland. 3. The advisor told me that I will get a pure MS degree from the University of Liverpool which doesn't state that it was made online. Do someone know whether his statement is correct? 4. The fees are 20804€ for the whole program only if you pay them at once, otherwise they will get increased by more than 4000€ . Can an experienced person tell me if it's normal? 5. Accredition.. Is the program accredited? I couldn't find this word in the Program's website. 6. I would like to contact some currently registered students in online UoL or already graduated fellows from an online UoL program. If you are one of them please send me an email to j...@online.de 7. Most important: what does John Bear say about online MBA at UoL ???

A:I am currently enrolled with the University of Liverpool's MSC program. I can tell you what I know about the school in general. Personally I am rather happy with the program and will soon begin the dissertation phase of my program. UoL has a partnership with Laureate online services. Essentially this is the sales arm for the distance degree. I suspect they are paid on commission so this is why they push a little on the hard side. After you are accepted the person you initially helped you gain entrance to the program will transfer you to a dedicated program advisor. You will work with this individual the rest of your academic career with UoL. They help to guide and provide advice on how to best complete the program. In general they are pretty helpful and run the program very well. Again this is related to the Joint Venture. Originally it was a stand alone company working with UoL; but was recently bought out by Laureate. They keep in pretty good contact with UoL and attend all of the graduation ceremonies, etc. They essentially act as the agent for the University coordinating the teaching resources, materials, Library access, etc for all online students. When a student is ready to matriculate they hand all responsibility over to University for final grading and approvals. The University provides email access, Student IDs, computing resources, etc. If you live in the UK you can use any of the Universities facilities as a "part time student" status. In terms of the degree it states on the degree that its officially from the University of Liverpool. The degree does not indicate that the course was taken online. You will receive a MS degree in the field that you choose to study. True. However they do let you finance as you go which in my opinion is rather good. Sure they charge a small service charge but in the end you can pay as you go and this helps to eliminate some of the up front financial burden when dealing with a graduate school. After all presumably the reason you are looking for an online school is you need to remain with a job or stay in your home country. If you have enough cash and time then I suspect you would end up going to a more traditional university. The MBA program is not accredited with either EQUIS or AMB

A: This seems to be a bit of a contention with some of the MBA students. If this is your primary reason for taking the course then I suggest that you look to other online schools. Their MSc is accredited as a taught masters program. Presumably this is the category that their MBA falls under. Please note this is different then a MSRes which is a research degree typically needed to enter a Doctorate program. After the research I have made, about the online MBA in general and especially about the online MBA at UoL, I have learned, that the UoL offers a good

MBA program, and that the University itself is one of the finest universities in UK. Most of the people told me that they would strongly recommend the UoL MBA it it has been a bit less expensive. They meant that Wareick, and the Imperial College of London which fall in the list of the best 50 Business universities in the world, cost much less than Liverpool. At the moment I am really confused, and I need some help, especially from some people currently enrolled, or already graduated with an online MB

A: Warwick and Imperial Collegue are interesting, but I will need about 4 years to finish their program, coz they have a strict schedule.
