Olympus Digital Cameras

Olympus' well-known name has made it one of the most highly sought-after makers of digital cameras on the market today. Olympus digital cameras offer more innovative features (like the 10x optical zoom on the Ultra Zoom models and the weather-proof body of the Stylus series) than many of their competitors. Like other Olympus Ultra Zoom models, the Olympus C-770 packs a powerful 10x optical zoom into a relatively compact body. This camera has 4.0 megapixels (effective), 10x optical zoom/4x digital zoom, auto and manual focus, program and manual exposure, JPEG and TIFF file format, ISO range 100 - 400, proprietary Lithium-Ion battery, movie mode with sound. The C-series of Olympus cameras offer the photographer more control over their camera's behavior--shutter speed, aperture, manual focusing, than either the D-series or the Stylus line. The D-series serves as an introduction to digital photography and the Stylus line represents Olympus's fashionable cameras. The Olympus C 8080 digital cameras, for example; were recognized with the Editor's Choice award

from PC Magazine shortly after Olympus announced them. The C 8080 uses an electronic viewfinder to achieve SLR-like capability. It is one of the latest entries into the 8Mp digital camera market and has made quite a splash. Olympus C 8080 digital cameras also have an LCD screen that swivels to allow greater flexibility without breaking the photographer's back. They are marketed as super-wide-angle zoom cameras, an under-represented sector of the digital camera market. They are also distinguished because of them using Compact Flash cards and/or xD-Picture cards for image storage. With digital cameras like this, it is no wonder why Olympus is such a popular name brand for digital cameras.
