Nursery Rhymes
Nursery rhymes have always a major aspect or child rearing. Little children have always loved the easy flow and cute stories that accompany a nursery rhyme. Some of the most popular and favorite nursery rhymes have always been and still are: Jack and Jill, Mary had a little Lamb, Little Bo Peep, and hickory Dickory Dock. It doesn’t seem to matter where you go or what part of the world you are in; every child seems to know these nursery rhymes. One of the reasons why nursery rhymes are so beloved the world over is because they short, simple and easy to remember. Many have a catchy rhythm to them that make them hard to forget. As much as we are all drawn to nursery rhymes, there is one aspect to them that is often ignored or forgotten and that is that they are really no more than fast moving poetry. Some of the earliest nursery rhyme books were those that were based on mother Goose, and these are the most widely known versions of nursery rhymes. Mother Goose is perhaps the most popular childhood figure for many people and it is a childhood experience that many parents like to share with their children to this day, however, as Walt Disney and Pixar keep making new movies; many parents are simply not sharing mother goose with their children preferring to follow popular trends these days instead. It may be that nursery rhymes just aren’t as interesting as Disney movies and television shows are or that they are not visual enough. Video games and television seems to have become surrogate parents for children these days.
