Network Server

Is your network server secure? Most of us like to think so, but the truth is we sometimes don’t know until a destructive virus enters our computer and causes irreversible damage. As with home security, it is important to install and check network security to be sure that it remains fixed in place and is strong enough to repel the most able invader. Your network server, upon installation, is expected to perform various calculations or data transmissions. This can be done through the hardware, cable or connecting devices, operating system, Internet portal, and software applications. But if one or more of these entities malfunction, the entire system can be compromises, effectively shutting down our server capability. To provide network server security, find out which type of firewall, if any, your computer hardware is using. If none is in place, seek assistance in finding and installing the right firewall for your system. Then check the Internet portal to be sure the gateway is adequately protected. This will require another filtering device or firewall that is specifically geared to this component of your system. The next area to check is the software. Is each unit able to protect

itself from virus attachment? If not, you may want to add another layer of security to this vital part of your server. After implementing a multiple-layer security system, you will need to run periodic checks on your firewalls and filters. Rather than wait for trouble to strike, prepare for it in advance by using a network analyzer or a software application to ensure that everything is in place and operational. Watch for updates and upgrades for your security items, and be prepared to get the next version of your security applications, if warranted. Allow only authorized users to access sensitive information, and keep the network administrator apprized of all changes or problems.
