Network Installation

Setting up a computer network can be challenging for inexperienced computer users. Network administrators, however, are usually the ones assigned this task. Fortunately, many systems lend themselves naturally to their installation when in the hands of competent technicians. One of the first steps is to prepare the wiring and cables for a wired system. Wireless systems will need the protocols for using radio signals to communicate. The next step is to purchase and coordinate hardware elements, like the computer, printer, fax (if applicable), and related equipment. An able administrator will want to purchase these from a quality manufacturer or reputable retailer after checking to be sure the programs offer needed functions. The next step is to set up the system. This will take some time in terms of hooking up wiring or the computer’s IP’s and linking to the Internet, among other things. Each piece of equipment will need to be checked to ensure it works correctly and in conjunction with the rest of the units. Often the computer provides user-friendly commands to guide the installer to a successful hook-up. At that point it may be helpful to monitor the performance of the system to weed out bugs

and make sure everything works as smoothly as possible. A network analyzer program can monitor and record operations in real time for later review. If you hire the network setup instead of doing it yourself, the installation team will probably want to provide ongoing support, directly or indirectly, to make sure the system performs as expected. Occasional system checks, routine maintenance, prompt response to potential problems, and timely upgrades are some of the features provided by a network installation team. Find out what you can do to make the process easier and more effective. Or start shopping for an external company to which this task can be outsourced when the time comes.
