Neighbor Harrasment

Q: I am 24 years old and just bought my first house last year. My neighbor is driving me crazy and broke. He kept calling the town building inspector complaining about my retaining wall not being safe, so I had to fix it (I understand that this had to be done and cost a little over $3000, which I might add put me in financial difficulty). Now my problem. My neighbor keeps calling the building inspector trying to find things wrong with my house/property. The building inspector is very sick of hearing from him AND SO AM I. The only legitimate violation was the retaining wall. I never did anything wrong to this guy, why do I deserve this? What can I do to get this guy off my back? Should I seek revenge, if so, how?

A: Have you met

and know the building inspector well? Take him out to a nice lunch at his convieniance some day, and get to talking. Explain the problem if he doesn't already know it.(I'm sure he does) Let him know that this isn't meant as a bribe but, if he could put a stop to it by telling this neighbor that the next time he calls,he will take legal actions for harrasment. The neighbors name will spread all over the city halls departments in no time....and be ignored or blackballed. If the dog is barking at all times of the night or whatever, then yes. There's a good chance that the animal control people will have "heard that name" before. (A nice lunch with the right people can do wonders)
