NC Property

Q: My wife and I are are looking to buy (first house) somewhere in the vicinity of Charlotte. Preferably as far out as we can get & still commute aprox an hour or less each way. Any insight into the NC market would be helpfull. Is it customary for buyers to obtain lawyers in the state or does title insurance & such cover the big stuff? Does anyone have a feel for using a buyers agent & what do they cost? Are they worth it. We are looking for a VA loan and wondered what kind of time it takes to push all the paperwork through. And and and and ..... Anxiety attack help.

A: It is not 'customary' to hire a lawyer anywhere. It is foolish not to hire a good real estate lawyer when buying a property ANYWHERE. BA>Does anyone have a feel for using a buyers agent & what do they cost? BA>Are

they worth it. Yes, I believe buyer agents are REALLY worth it, especially if you are unfamiliar with the area. If you need help finding a buyer agent in NC, e-mail me, and I will help you find one. BA>We are looking for a VA loan and wondered what kind of time it takes BA>to push all the paperwork through. VA loans only take a few days longer than conventional loans at the same bank IF THE BANK IS A VA DESIGNATED LENDER. That means, the VA gives the bank the authority to approve the loan onsite, rather than sending all the paperwork offf to the VA. Frequently, these days you can do better with first-time homebuyers programs than VA loans if you have 20% or more down.
