The Miami Herald is a daily newspaper owned by Knight-Ridder and is the twenty-fourth largest newspapers in the country. The Miami Herald primarily serves the Miami-Dade area of South Florida but is also popular in surrounding counties of Monroe and Broward. The Miami Herald has a daily readership close to one million readers and averages eighty-eight pages daily and one hundred and twenty two on Sunday. Their daily distribution exceeds 30,000 with the Sunday edition adding another third to distribution numbers. South Florida, the Caribbean and Latin America make up the bulk of that distribution. The Miami Herald offers many employment opportunities to its community and has established over 2,000 jobs for people in Miami and in several bureaus in various geographically strategic areas. The first edition of the Miami Herald was published as the Miami Evening Record September 15, 1903. Officially named the Miami Herald in 1910 it is south Florida’s oldest newspapers. Over the years the Miami Herald has earned eighteen Pulitzer prizes.

The Miami Herald also sponsors the Silver Knight Awards.
