Maryland Cracks Down On Trucks

Q: It was announced today that the Maryland State Police have started a crack down on trucks call 3D. The crack down is looking for drugged, drunk, and dangerous truck drivers. They are also looking for alcohol in the truck even if it is unopened. This special enforcement is to last until the end of December.Do you think this problem is serious enough to improve the traffic system in Maryland?

A: -It was announced today that the Maryland State Police have started a crack down on trucks call 3D. The crack down is looking for drugged, drunk, and dangerous truck drivers. They are also looking for alcohol in the truck even if it is unopened. This special enforcement is to last until the end of December -I read that some states maybe it was Maryland had more officers dedicated to truck traffic than to drug enforcement. Maybe this is the answer to the question as to why chasing trucks was more important then getting drugs off of the streets. Now they can use the traffic enforcement numbers in the drug enforcement stats. Plus they don't have to mess with that reasonable cause law. Hell why would a cop stop a car of gang bangers and check them out when they can pull over a truck and write a ticket of two and bring in some revenue. -I'd like to think this is a joke, with all the drug and alcohol testing we go through. but i have a bad feeling it's not. this kills me. they have access to the same info from government sources they we do, showing that when the CDL was instituted. it was found that out of all the testing done, less than 1% of 1% of the drivers tested positive for drugs or alcohol. and yet, they go after the drivers who from these statistics show that they are nether

drugged, drunk, or dangerous. where am i failing to see the logic is this. if you go by the numbers I've seen. considering that out of 3,000,000 drivers, around 3,000 of those fall into the category as a "user". this is nation wide. in any large city on any given Friday or Saturday night I'm sure there are more than 3,000 drunks driving the roads. i fail to see why it would not make better sense to try and remove these people than the harass the truckers..but as someone has already said..we are the easier target...that i can understand. is this about keeping the roads safe or rather about an easy way to put more money in the states coffers. i tend to think the later.
