Laos Is Now The Potential Recipient Of This Debt Relief Program?

Q: They are: Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Republic of Congo, Cote d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Guyana, Honduras, Laos, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Myanmar (Burma), Nicaragua, Niger, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda and Zambia. ...... Will his policy lean toward granting MFN status to Laos since Laos is now the potential recipient of this debt relief program? Does anyone have any details about this gesture? in another word, what is the catch?

A: From the list of 36 countries, only Laos and Myanmar (Burma) are in Asia. I wonder why the White House selects the 2 countries. I think that Cambodia should be included and it would be better if Thailand , Bangkladesh, Sri Lanka , Indonesia etc. are also in the list. Any constructive opinion is appreciated. You have to remember that the United States of America doesn't agree with many of Cambodian policies. Most of US aids are toward NGOs. It means that US aids to Cambodia is for humanitarian gesture, not aid to a country. Very little to none is aimed at the development of Cambodia. That's why you don't see it on the list. It might be on the original list. The omition is intentioinal to my opinion.
