Is It Good To Study Comp.E ?

Q: Is it good to study computer engineering in singapore U (NTU) ? Plz give comment ..and actually what job i can get if i study EE or compE ? what is the job properties ? I'm high school graduator.. have no enough idea of that.. but most my favorite is computer stuff (not games)

A: -This is my insight of this subject. EE and CE are both very hot majors around the world right now. I will tell you why I chose EE instead of CE at CalPoly Pomona. I have an uncle who is the head programmer for Asia Nestle representing IBM. He majored in CS back in the 80's. One thing that he regrets most is that he cannot get out of the computer field even though if he wanted to. I simply took his advice and pursued EE instead of CE. With a EE education, you have the option of going into the computer field as well as other fields if your interests change. However, it is not true for the other way around. If you graduate stricly with a CE degree. . . it will be very difficult if you wanted to work on airplanes or medical equipment or so. -well the first y2k has come and gone but there are others to go yet. can't remember well y2015, y2028, bugs y2050(the exact years may be incorrect but there are date bugs set to hit around these times) migration of x86 from 32bit to 64 bit programs in next 5 to 10 years and to what ever the next big hardware platform is. all the software required for consumer appliances, eg set top boxes ,white goods(dryers, wahing machines, fridges, programs in vechiles, engine managemnent systems. basically anything that has a computer chip in it requires a program/software for it and with electronics moving in to lots of things eg flush control in toilets, phones ,speed control in fans , lighting whatever field you go into in electrical/computer/telecommunication engineering there is plenty of work and demand I waiting to find out if I got in to applied physics and electrical engineering at UTS here in Sydney(should

find out by the mid of feb). With a bit of luck. Just glad I wasn't one of the school leavers who were trying to get in. Then again probably be a bit easier for them once the work starts especailly in the maths since its still fresh in their minds.10 years since I left school. If your interested you could always have a look at the UTS web site and some of the other Australian universities www.uts.edu.au University of Technology Sydney has some good descriptions of the jobs available to the different areas of electrical engineering www.usyd.edu.au University of Sydney www.unsw.edu.au University of NSW (in Sydney) www.monash.edu.au Monash University in Victoria
