I Have Done A Business Card Design In Illustrator. I Want To Put A Photo Into The Design
Q: Is there any easy way to drag or copy only part of an image from Photoshop to Illustrator? I have done a Business Card Design in Illustrator. I want to put a photo into the design, but the photo needs to have a fuzzy edge that blurs into the Business Cards background. There doesn't seem to be a way to do this in Illustrator. However, in Photoshop, if I open the Photo, select the part of the photo I want with the Rectangula Marquee tool, and then drag that section to a design in Photoshop, I am left with the selected part of my Photo having a fuzzy edge that blends into a background. My problem is, when I try to drag that selected part of my photo with the fuzzy edge, over to Illustrator, when it gets over to Illustrater it changes to a fuzzy edged image inside a white square. I tried to do this the other way by opening my Illustrator design in Photoshop, so that I can drag my fuzzy edged selectd part of my photo into my design which is opened in Photoshop. However, when I open up my Illustrator design in Photoshop, my bleed section disappears (the 2mm left at the edge of my design to allow for movement of paper when the card is printed and cut). So that is no good either.
A: Trying to envision your issue... If your cards background is a solid colour, I'd suggest creating a canvas the size of the card (with bleed) and placing the image upon that (ie: do all the work you can in Photoshop first). You could then import this as a bitmap EPS (or .TIF if you must) into Illustrator and set your type or other vector graphic elements over it.... You problem is slightly complicated by the method your trying to use. Do not use 'drag & drop'. Also you dont relate what versions of Illustrator or Photoshop you're using; which makes it even more difficult to give you a definitive approach.
