How To Find A Good Lawyer?

Q: What do you look for in a laywer to represent an NCP? How do you find a good lawyer? Or good 'enough', should we say. We also do not live in the state that has jurisdiction, makes things more difficult to find someone to act in our favor.

A: -To add one thing to this question, which state determines the amount of child support? The state the ncp lives in or the state the cp lives in? Can the state the cp lives in override the laws of the state the ncp lives in? or visa versa? -I have no idea. The CP says that OK holds full jurisdiction, but who knows if we can believe her. However, we did speak to a lawyer here (CA) that told us to get a lawyer there. I don't think he wanted our case and also was going to charge us $3000, like we could do that anyway. -I can't give you a good tip of finding an attorney out of state. The only advise I could give you is to find one local. If the local attorney is capable of practicing in the other state, that is beneficial. If he/she isn't, then perhaps they can help you find one in the OK. This is what I did after my ex filed for divorce in California when I lived in Hawaii. I had two attorneys, one in Hawaii and one in California. It was costly too. Your case if different in many ways, and it would

be beneficial to you to have an attorney that can practice in OK. If you leave this up to a hearings officer in OK, you'll end up losing what you seek. I'm not sure if anyone who is reading this news group that could help you, but if someone is reading from OK... please send this father some help. I feel you are not asking for much. A fair trade-off. The tax deduction in exchange for an increase in child support. -IF you find a good lawyer for fathers, please let me know so I can mark it on my calendar and refer everyone to that lawyer. I'm too tired to continue this much longer and there just HAS to be SOME lawyer out there that is worth more than two cents.
