Holiday Gifts For All Seasons
Every season has more than one holiday, and that means holiday gifts on a regular basis. Sometimes it can feel like a daunting task to find holiday gifts for everyone on your list. However, there are some specific gifts that one can give depending on the occasion, and the relationship one has with the receiver. Winter is the most common season for holiday gifts. After all, winter is the time of year for all of the big gift-giving holidays: Christmas, Hanukah, and Valentine’s Day. All of these are winter holidays. It is not usually too hard to find gifts for these holidays. Much of the time these gifts include the tried and true special things: toys, jewelry, electronics, flowers and candy (for Valentines Day). Even though these are the holidays we think of most when the subject of holiday gifts comes up, there are other holidays that work well for gift giving. There is no reason not to give gifts throughout the year. Spring holiday gifts can include those given for Mothers Day, but one can make nice gifts for May Day. Fresh wildflowers or linens can make lovely gifts on this day, traditionally celebrating rebirth. It can be fun to give gifts for April Fools Day. Some small white elephant type gift can make a zany present for friends and family. It needn’t be a prank; just a fun little token to mark the day. Memorial Day is another spring holiday. This is a more somber time for reflection, when gifts are made in remembrance, left for those who have passed on. Summer includes Fathers Day for holiday gift giving. But the Fourth of July can make a festive occasion for holiday gifts. Take fireworks around to friends and family. Also, a fun idea is a red, white and blue gift basket. This can include such items as hot dogs and buns, soda pop, sparklers and miniature flags. Autumn is a bit more tricky. Labor Day; however, can be treated much the same way as April Fools Day for holiday gifts. Even though it is not about joking around, you can mark the day by giving small gifts to your coworkers, to commemorate this day designed to recognize the worker. It is a lighthearted way to enliven the office. If you know a veteran, it can be a thoughtful gesture to recognize his or her service with a small, tasteful gift.
