Health Care Continuing Education

Q: I was interested in gaining some insight into the CEU (Continuing Education Units) requirements of the various health care career fields. If anyone has information about these CEU's, I would love to hear from you. I am aware that there are many different career paths under the "health care" umbrella, so the more responses the better.

A:I am employed at the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation as a grant writer. I am one of those employees who develops projects with project directors and managers. These new projects are funded by grant monies either from private, state, or federal sources. I see many fields in health care from the experiences I had working with employees. Many employees have Finance or Accounting Degrees, and they work in the financial part in health care. They

work with all the funding sources, and they also work torwards the development of annual budgets. These employees are the the point-of-contact with anything that has to do with all money part in health care. They also work with insurance agencies and other patient billing processes. So, any financial or business administration degree will get you into a health career. Other health careers include computer software development, administrators, managers, directors, vice-presidents, or health education. I'm not sure if you are enrolled in a college, but if you are, I would like to know what kind of a degree you are pursuing. I can name more health careers if I knew your major.
