Has Anyone Had Experience With "Ontario School Of Trucking" And "Crossroads"?

Q: I have a choice of two schools in Ontario,Canada to attend; "Ontario School of Trucking" and "Crossroads". Has anyone had experience with these places?

A:If so, I did attend Ontario School of Trucking. While it was a really good experience, it could've been so much better. I think I attended during a time of transition for them, and not in a positive way. A few of the instructors were unhappy with the school's owner, and this dissatisfaction, unfortunately, wasn't kept separate from their job as much as it should've been. As well, the yard instructor (backing, PTI, weight distribution, etc.) was usually found working on his snowmobile in the garage after showing us what to do for a few minutes (leaving us to almost teach each other), and when he was around, he was pretty impatient. He's no longer there, from what I know. One thing I was really looking

forward to was visiting the MTO scales and actually crawling under a truck with an inspector to see exactly what goes on - we went, but they weren't prepared for a group as large as ours (sounds like the school neglected to tell them, or should've split us into smaller groups), so we just got to ask any questions we could think of - when you're a student just learning, you're not really properly prepared for that kind of change of plans, so it was a wasted opportunity for the most part. That being said, the bulk of the instructors really knew their stuff, were rather patient and thorough, and always helpful. I just got unlucky in a few areas, but I made up the difference myself.
