Harrasment Law
Q: I think you would agree that congress is full of people
who would like to see all guns registered and all private sales
of guns banned. So let's suppose for a moment that a law
requiring all privately owned guns to be registered with
the government was passed.
I am not talking about a law that would confiscate all guns, I
am talking about a law that would register all guns -- you know,
in order to fight crime and terrorism.
My question to you is, would you comply with such a law
and register all your guns?
A: Unlike a simple "I wanna" habit that is the basis for doing drugs, the ownership of weapons is the basis of the power that the people hold over government. That is the real purpose of the 2nd amendment. The attempt of the government to remove that power would be the attempt to establish a dictatorship. So... no. I'm real careful not to move to any such state that requires this. Its the primary reason I'm in Virginia, and not in Maryland when both states had job opportunities 5 years ago. If I lived in a state that passed such a law, I'd likely move out of that state. But I wouldn't just disobey the (state) law. If a Federal law, I'd likely join a citizen's militia and march on Washington to restore the constitution! Once you give up your power, then they can, at their whim, suspend voting and you have no means to resist.
