Q: VA Reposessed Home - Detail Source ? from Government I recently retired and I am looking for a home. What are the best sources for VA repo'ed home details?
A: -In most areas, VA and HUD repossessions are handled by HUD. Look in the telephone book under U.S. Government and find Housing and Urban Development. They should be able to guide you. -Call your local VA and ask them for a listing of realators in your area that carry the listing. They will work with you just like a regular relator. They have received all of the necessary training and knowledge concerning VA repros from the VA and they have a special listing that they receive every month. Beware of imposters. There are only a few certified relators in the country that deal in VA repros. When we were house hunting, we hooked up with the "leader" of the realtors in this category. He took us out to see a lot of homes. We bid on one and in the meantime we bought another
A: Then after we moved in, we received notice that our bid was number two and number one failed to qualify. Damn. We wanted that house. Now we are straight conventional and just about to pay this baby off free and clear. No help from the VA or Government. You will find that some Veterans trash their homes when they know they are about to be evicted. I saw only one VA home that wasn't trashed to some degree. Another problem you might run into are the "points" the seller is willing to give up if buying from a non VA source and using your Certificate. If you can, go FHA and forego the VA until you need to buy your last home.
