Gold Toe Ring?
Q: I have recently started wearing a toe ring and I get alot more attention directed towards my feet now with the combined colder weather and the toe ring. It is really interesting to see the double takes as people see me barefooted and then notice the ring. The look is first a casual glance then a noticeable stare. You can see them thinking, I just wish I knew what! It seems that somr guys look at me and probably think it is a"gay" thing and girls look at me in admiration. My mother-in-law (84 yrs old) is staying with us and when she first noticed it she said "is that a ring on your toe?" I said yes, what do you think and she got this grin on her face and said "looks funny". I said it's cool don't you think and she just laughed. So I was curious, what does this group think of toe rings, especially on men? I am not uncomfortable going barefooted just about everywhere, but I am a bit uncomfortable with the ring on. Anyone have this same feeling? What is, if any the appropriate toe to wear it on ( I wear it on my toe next to the big one on my left foot). By the way it is a simple silver band.
A: I am male, 22, and have had a toe ring for quite some time. As for you - it was a hard decision, there is alot of information on the web about it - but no history. I didnt know the symbolism behind it. I just thougth it would be neat. I felt uncomfortable for the first little while, but then I hardly notice it there. I get a few looks from people, but I am an extreme extrovert type so it doesnt bother me. I wear mine on the second toe from my big toe. incase I have sandlas that go between my first and second toe. Do you have any problem with yours falling off? Mine does only when it is dry out and I'm hiking or something. Ok, I must confess. I have two toe rings. I bought one and my daughter bought me the other. I don't wear them much (it's very much a "mood" thing) ... less than 5% of the time. They make me feel like ... uhhmm .. a gypsy. Or maybe when I feel like a gypsy, I put them on?? Not sure. They are the kind with the gap. I had one where I took it on and off too much and it broke (from all the re-bending). I did once have them on with birkenstocks as I briefly traversed "hallowed space" to get into a restuarant my family wanted to eat at. I didn't care for the way it looked with the birks, but I didn't want to do any unnecessary re-bending
