Generic Heartburn Medication
Q: What is a good heartburn medication i get get in a generic form?
I used to take prevacid for my heartburn a while ago then I stopped taking it when my heartburn went away but now it is getting bad again.My presription copay went up to $50 dollars for brand name medications. What is something good I can take that comes in a generic form?
A:Pepcid works well. Gavascon is awesome, but you know what works the best for me, and it is the cheapest by far is sodium bicarbonate. "baking soda" about 1/4 teaspoon in a 1/2 cup water, mix until clear and slam it down, chase with more water. Works wonders.
Try sucking on hard candy or chewing gum after you eat. Give natural methods a chance before you resort to more medication.
prilosec OTC is about 20 bucks a box, sometimes 15 if you catch it on sale. one pill a day, and no more heartburn!
There is Zantac and Tagamet which come in store brands generic forms. We find Tagamet before you eat or immediately after works pretty good.
