Ged Registration
Q: I have a couple of questions re. Professional Geologist Registration in the
US:
1. Have all of the states gone to a standard test for the Geologist in
Training (GIT) and the Professional Geologist (PG) exams? If not, which
states have not and how would you rate the difficulty of each states' exams
and requirements?
2. Does anyone know of a good (and inexpensive) source of study material for
the standard GIT and PG exams that it appears most states have gone to?
A:AIPG Nevada Nesletter has a good review of the situation in the US. Thus
far 26 states have some reference to registration, including some that
refer simply to the AIPG.
The March issue of the AAPG Explorer has a
state-by-state roundup of registration
situation.
Missouri just completed grandfathering, but will require a test
in the future. Arkansas was requiring geology section of GED,
but don't know if that is still the case. Texas has no
registration.
