Ged Prep Test
Q: Does anyone know of any simple tests for dyslexia?
I'm part of the teaching staff in a boot camp. I teach English, among other
things, and I've noticed that several of my students have trouble with
switching or reversing letters (writing 'd' for 'b' etc.) when they write.
Unfortunately, we have limited resources (three teachers, two rooms, not
enough books) so any test would have to be re-usable and I would have to be
able to administer any test myself.
I would appreciate any suggestions or recommendations
A:Dyslexia is very broad topic and involves many types of disabling
characteristics. What is need is a comprehensive evaluation of the student's
cognitive, educational, speech and language, and social emotional levels.
There no one test that does all of these. However, the Detroit Test of
Learning Aptitude (DTLA III) and the Test of memory and learning (TOMAL)
will give you a good general knowledge of the student's cognitive strengths
and weaknesses. The Woodcock Johnson Test of Cognitive Abilities coupled
with the Woodcock Johnson Educational Battery will also be helpful. However
it is really important to evaluate their speech and language
