Ged Language Arts
Q: It is my understanding, that homeschooling is not a credited form of education. No child that is home schooled can further his or her education. No colleges or university wll accept a homeschooled student. Anyone differ with this?????
A: Home school is not an accredited school no. But many home schoolers register with an Umbrella group that can be accredited but isn't necessary. Most simply have to turn in a portfolio yearly showing that the child did X amount of hours, X amount of subjects, or here in MD I just have to show that the kids learned what the kids the same age learned in public school. If colleges won't accept home schoolers then they shouldn't accept anyone with a GED. Some umbrella groups ( i know mine does) offers a diploma if we can show 120 hours per credit in a list of subjects. Math, science, history/geography, language arts, pe, and any number of alternative subjects ie, music, home ec...etc. Otherwise home schoolers take the GED and the SATs/ACTs. Many home school kids are accepted at colleges across the country as well as home schoolers in other countries.
