Q: I am in the US on a B2 visa. - I am visiting friends here and have decided i would like to study at a University here in the future. My future situation: - I know i cannot switch from B2 to F1. - I know i need to leave, apply for F1 and then come back. The university i wish to attend to requires a GED due to me not having completed high school in Canada (i started a business, thats why). They also require an SAT/ACT test. Now, i dont know if i can take those tests on a B2 visa. I also dont know if i could get a F1 visa for the purpose to take those tests in the US. Its kind of a tricky situation, because it involves studying. Can i apply for an F1 visa in order to take those tests in the US and then apply to university?

U.S." for tests like these. You should ask the schools which are offering the study program. They may be able to advise prospective students about how to comply with the law. See p. 2 of http://www.nafsa.org/content/ProfessionalandEducationalResources/Immi... By "apply for an F-1 visa" do you mean leave and re-enter the U.S. in F-1 status? If so, you can do that if you can find a fulltime GED and/or SAT/ACT study program, like Kaplan, which offers an I-20. After completing that course of study, you can transfer to another school with a degree program, if there is not too long a lag between the end of first F-1 program and the beginning of the next F-1 program.
