Ged Book
Q: Has anyone ever heard of the software named GED-BOOK. Apparently it
is designed to extract notes from genealogy software and turn the notes
into a story form. However, I have just found out that it cannot
extract notes from FTM which I have just purchased. The second dilema
that I face is that I now have to gedcom my files into PAF software and
apparently one cannot do that as FTM gedcom is very different from
PAF gedcom. Has anyone encountered this problem and what if any
was the solution? I would like to know that there is a solution before
I decide to purchase GED-BOOK
A:I haven't had a problem generating a GEDCOM in FTM and reading it into
PAF, so my assumption is that it would go the other direction as well. I
use the FTM --> PAF to generate a cascading pedigree chart of selected
data, which FTM has elected to leave out of their program.
There has been a new version of GED-BOOK released a couple of months
ago that is capable of using gedcom files. I have purchased it and
used it with my FTM program. Everything looks really great so far but
I haven't had too much time to play around with it. It certainly seems
to do everything it claims to do and I am very happy with it.
