Finding The Right Tennis Shoe

Tennis shoes, by definition, are just that. Shoes used to play tennis. They provide support to prepare the feet for the rigors of the tennis match, but perhaps more importantly, tennis shoes are not as hard and rigid, like other types of athletic shoes. Tennis shoes provide flexibility to move about as one plays. Tennis shoes tend to be less expensive than other types of athletic shoes, in part because they wear out more quickly under the strains of the game. Tennis shoes come in canvas, vinyl, or leather tops, and the choice of which material to purchase depends on which one the buyer feels is most appropriate. If the buyer frequently plays in moist places or the buyer's feet are susceptible to discomfort because of moisture, vinyl tops are probably best because these tennis shoes fight off moisture. They do not, however, allow the foot to "breathe." Canvas tennis shoes, while the least sturdy of the three types of tennis shoe material, do give the foot more breathing room. Leather tennis shoes will work best if one will be playing in wet conditions and could be a good tennis shoe option for people in particularly rainy climates. The soles of tennis shoes are a different story entirely. The soles of these shoes, because of the constant pressure placed on them, tend to wear out long before the rest of the shoe. People in the market for tennis shoes, then, should look for a sturdy bottom - one that will provide support and traction against the rigors of the sport.
