Filing Sexual Harrasment

Q: I got a question, maybe for the one or two women in this loop. Is that the Govenor's wife there standing beside him as he admits to all this and just how much iron and steel does she have in her that she can stand there without breaking out emotional while he admits to this stuff? None of this makes sense to most of us heterosexual folks. Maybe his whole marriage was based on lies and deceit of the public? A few things about the man appear out of place. By all accounts Gov. James E. McGreevey is a twice-married Roman Catholic who now admits to being gay. What a combination! I suspect that both of his wives knew about his sexual idiosyncrasies and that may be one reason that he is married a second time

A: McGreevey being gay was not much of a secret. His Republican opponent showed class by not making it an issue in the last election. His resignation is about corruption, not being gay. Lots of problems in his administration. What brought this to a head is that he gave political favors to his lovers. One or more are filing sexual harrasment suits with the state. The guy who is head of Homeland Security for New Jersey is the lover who is reported as filing the first lawsuit. This guy is totally

unqualified for his position. The patronage & corruption is the real scandal, most people don't give a rat's behind who he sleeps with It's a petty kind of corruption, a remnant of the old machine-politics of the past. We've had a couple of very good governors in recent years but the basic system is one of cronyism and patronage. It was much worse in the old days. In the past, it was about big money for the politicians themselves. Now it's mostly about ambition for power, so it boils down to collecting votes. The money often is pathetically trivial. Our last acting governor was blown out of the re-election box by a couple of hundred-thousand. It's almost embarrassing
