Some men, probably most heterosexual men, find the very though of having sex with another male to be repulsive and disgusting as they do sexual molestation of children and do not want to be associated with it in any way. Let me get this straight (pun intended). These big, tough firefighters will dash headlong into a burning building but the sight of gay men kissing makes them feel faint. I'm not saying they don't have the right to complain but you have to admit that on the face of it they sound a little silly. The bigger issue should be how does City policy determine whether or not to have firefighters attend such functions. The policy should be such that standard operating procedure makes this a non-issue.
