A: I understand your frustration. I've also heard of numerous horror stories of GC applicants who were unfortunate enough to be dealing with incompetent immigration lawyers. However, by carefully selecting and communicating with an immigration lawyer, a person can save alot of grief and confusion, especially for the very complicated cases. The attorney I used for my GC process was always courteous, efficient and very knowledgeable. My recommendation

for anyone who's looking for an immigration lawyer is to do his/her homework. Ask for references, credentials and experience in dealing with a particular type of case. And for those who don't have much of a choice but to take whatever law firm is hired by their companies, COMMUNICATE with the company's HR dept (or whatever dept that communicates with the firm) and the law firm. Don't be afraid to ask questions and don't be afraid to confront them if you have reason to believe that they are not doing what they're paid for. Your company does not want to pay big money to a law firm that doesn't do their job. Let your company know if they are not meeting your needs.
