Do You Know Of A Solid Bible Correspondence Course?

Q: 1) Must be based on solid Christian fundamental doctrine. 2) Must use KJV/NKJV or other TR or Majority Text based Bible. 3) Must be Word focused, no Theology please. I need to study the Bible in-depth to lead a home Bible study group.

A:I'm kicking myself for writing this (for my own reasons), but you might try Moody Bible Institute. Go to http://www.moody.edu and look under "External Studies" or "Correspondance" (can't remember which it is listed under). Perhaps I am biased, but Jehovah's Witnesses offer free home Bible studies at your convenience. Whatever you learn from them, they will show you in the Bible itself to prove the point and you will truly learn to use the Bible make a defense for the faith. If you don't like the study, you can cancel anytime. Try it for a few months, you have nothing to lose. Family Radio School of the Bible also has a correspondence course. It's free. Their website is http://www.familyradio.com Thanks for asking. You will probably get a ton of mail. Here are some starting points. First, subscribe to "Christian History" magazine $4/copy, 4 copies a year, $16/year renewal cost. In it are advertisements for various resources, both for Macs and IBM PCs, as well as Seminaries and Bible Colleges (most usually are conservative et al). I believe it is owned now by Christianity Today magazine (but it maintains its own editorial staff). I advise getting a CD-ROM for your MAC or IBM PC and buying the 7 Bibles and 21 References Books CD put out by Ellis (? I think that is the publisher). It also has a Greek link to Strong's Exhaustive Concordance. The only drawback it that the Greek is anglisized and not using the Greek letters. I have had a year of Greek and so this seemingly minor point bothers me, but otherwise an excellent CD-ROM. As far as correspondance coursework, you are not looking for a Seminary but an undergraduate Bible College. One to start with is Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland, Oregon. Multnomah is the name of a nearby waterfall in the Columbia Gorge. Spectacular beauty. However, there must be hundreds of such colleges around. Another in Bethany Bible College in Minnesota. Just keep an eye peeled and look for the Ads in Christian magazines that college students read. Another school is Asbury College in WiImore Kentucky. Costs vary from college to college.

"Focus on the Family", Dr.James Dobson, has resource material for Christian colleges. Send them a letter and ask! Shop around. I attended Fuller Theological Seminary (extention campus in S.F. Bay Area) and am very glad to attend a seminary that believes in the inerrancy of the Bible. All the other Seminaries in the Berkeley area do not hold to this opinion. One other exception might be New College in Berkeley. However, the cost for Seminary is HUGE. A four-credit course is $500+ this year. Yow-ouch! It takes 3 quarter (four credits each) course to learn Greek. It cost me $1000 seven years ago but now the cost is $1500. Not a cheap proposition my friend!
