Cure Heartburn
Q: Has anyone got a cure for heartburn/indigestion?
ive had what i think is heartburn for 3 days and i need a quick fix soother!its very ubcomfortable and quite painful, antacid tablets dont seem to be working at all.
if i go to the doctors what will they do/test me for?
most people have told me to try bicarbonate of soda/baking powder, but is this for heartburn, as im sure this is what i have?
Can anyone in the group help me please?
A:If you've got heartburn caused by acid reflux the pain will take some time to subside as the stomach acid has caused some minor tissue damage. Try Gaviscon to ease the discomfort, and see your doctor if it becomes a regular occurence as you could have a reflux issue that requires prescription meds or minor surgery, or may be carrying the helicobacter pylori which is common and can cause repeated indigestion and is associated with duodenal ulcers but is treated with a week of antibiotics and proton pump inhibitors to reduce acid production. This bacterium is found in about 45% of the population and loves acidic conditions, but once treated doesn't come back.
If you've had if for three days, you really need to be consulting a doctor. They can do test, such a Helicobacter Pylori test, to rule that problem out. I suffer from the same and I have to take Lansoprazole once a day. Do not suffer! You have no need!
