Continuing Medical Education Conference
Q: Would you be interested in having some idea of the extent and nature of the
way the Internet is used in continuing medical education? I am trying to
find this out and ask you to please spend 10-15 minutes filling in and
returning (by email) this questionnaire. I will be most happy to send a
summary of the results to all who respond.
So, if you are a current or future member of a health profession (doctor,
nurse etc.) or someone involved in the education of the health profession
your assistance would be very much appreciated. Please feel free to
distribute this questionnaire as widely as you can (The more responses I
get the better!) Unfortunately, I do not have very much time. Please
return the form to me within the next 3-4 days (by Tuesday 15th November at
the latest).
A:Educational Database Resources (EDR), has developed an online database
called "SearchCME" containing comprehensive information on future
continuing medical education conferences. This service indexes the
numerous brochures sent to physicians via the U.S. postal service from a
variety of different institutions throughout the year. The information
contained in the SearchCME database is offered free of charge in a way
which has been deemed user friendly to those interested in searching the
contents via the World Wide Web site at http://www.searchcme.com. The
pages are designed to allow a conference sponsor to reach a very specific
physician audience, as physicians can access the database using specialty,
date, location, and specific conference titles to narrow their search.
When a physician needs to find a conference he or she can search online
for the ideal course and have an unparalleled selection.
For sponsors of continuing medical education courses, SearchCME means
direct access to thousands of physician users. The web site provides an
easy entry to the online world for Internet novices. For more
technologically-advanced CME sponsors, SearchCME will provide a link to
any existing homepage, or conference page. In addition to the extensive
basic information, offered free of charge, SearchCME can provide the
complete information on any conference. With the cooperation of the
publicity department of the sponsoring institution, the staff at EDR can
coordinate the inclusion of a printable registration form, allowing the
physician to register
