If you are thinking of getting a university degree, you are likely wondering why it can often be more expensive to go to university than it is to go to college. The answer is simple; colleges and universities are not the same. In general, most people think that colleges and universities are the same, but they differ in one major way. Universities often offer the newest and most recent information in any topic whereas colleges tend not to. When you attend a university you know that you are getting the benefits of the most modern research and technology. Colleges are generally a few years behind. In general there is an unspoken prestige that goes with getting a university degree as opposed to getting a college degree. Colleges are often seen in conjunction with the parties, fraternities, and the extra curricular activities they offer their students and are sometimes even viewed as barely a step up from high school. Students of universities are often as more serious students that re studying at a higher level than college students. That is not necessarily true, but the studies involved in getting a university degree are somewhat different in that they are more advanced in their

knowledge. A good example of that is that some of the best and most prestigious schools in the country are universities and not colleges. Good examples are Harvard University, Yale University, and Princeton University. If you tell an employer that you come with a degree from one these universities, you are as good as in. Think of it this way; a C student from Harvard can often beat out an A student from Dartmouth College. The prestige that goes with the university degree is just higher. That may not sound fair or realistic, but that is the simple truth of it. If you want to get a university degree, it is better for you that you aim for university if you want to be taken more seriously.
