College Scholarships

With college tuition; board, room, and book costs, more and more students are finding that they can't afford to pay for college. Every year so many hopeful high school students' dreams of attending the college of their choice is dashed because they simply can't afford the cost and they are told that they are not eligible for financial aid. However, there is some hope out there for these students. Many colleges offer full and partial scholarships to those students that show a lot of promise in a particular field of academia. It is used as somewhat of an incentive to get those gifted few to their colleges. College scholarships are not only offered to those that are gifted in certain areas of academia, they are also offered to extremely determined, motivated, and successful students that do not have the means to go to schools. That is how colleges ensure that those students that can't go to college but deserve the right and have proven that they are going to succeed; the same chance as everyone else. Poverty should not be the sole reason why gifted students should miss opportunities. It is with the help of private investors

and sponsorships that gifted students get the chance to earn their degrees. The final type of scholarship that I would like to mention is the type that everyone has heard of; which is the athletic scholarship. This is there so that gifted athletes can go to college and get degrees. Athletic scholarships are sometimes abused as some schools do not necessarily value the student's education, but many schools are not like that. In fact, it is against most colleges rules for athletes to continue on in sports without at least maintaining a C average. Scholarships are basically rewards for the students and their parents for all of their hard work. If that reward is abused, it is often rebuked.
