Changing Career To Computer Engineering
Q: I possess a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering and am currently enrolled into a masters program in Chemical Engineering. I feel now that the scope and job prospects in this field are quite poor and so want to change in favour of a computer based field. Since most of the jobs in computers/software give preference to people who possess a degree in CS (and rightfully so), I want to apply to a US university for Spring 2006 (or latest Fall) admissions. I additionally possess 1 yr of job experience in a software firm. Can anybody tell me what are my chances of getting admitted to a good school for a MS in Computer Science, considering the fact that I do not possess a bachelors in computer science and I need atleast a tution waiver to pursue my education? Also, what are my chances for a graduate stipend or assistanship?
A: Chem eng ought to be a better paid option than most jobs held by CS grads. these days. It wasn't always that way, true.
