Can Anyone Tell Me About The Driving Test At The DMV?
Q: Can anyone tell me about the driving test at the DMV? I'll be taking the
test in Concord next week,I see they've got two lines about 18 inches
apart in straight lines and in a circle and I can go practice in the
evening or weekend if I knew what they are looking for.
I expect some responses telling me to take the MSF course and I agree
it's a good thing and I'm signed up to go in June,license or not.
I've been riding dirt bikes fo a few years and have ridden a bit of
street in the 70's,I've just never had a license before.
A:Its been a coupla years,but IIRC,they will ask you to enter that double
circle from one of the lines,go clockwise a full turn staying between the
lines,then exit from the other pair of lines,then do it all again going
the other way(counter clockwise).You will also have to do a few feet of
'cone weave' around some dots that should be between those two lines...
They also ask you to shift thru gears 1,2,3,2,1 in a rather short
distance.I barely let the clutch out in 3rd as my beemer woulda been
lugging something hard.
Mostly they are looking to see how much control and confidence you have
with the bike in low speed tight maneuvers.Practice doing very tight
turns both ways and figure eights and you should be fine.
