Business Card Magnet Distribution

Q: I have recently purchased 2,000 self adhesive magnets for business cards. I am a computer consultant (database developer/ in your home computer troubleshooting-repair/computer tutoring). I plan to use these magnetic bus. Cards to drum up some business. Does anyone have any ideas as to the best and most cost efficient method for distributing these? I am planning on a commando mailbox sticking mission but I am afraid I may tick people off and never have a chance for their business. Perhaps the USPS is the best method????

A: To be honest, business cards (and magnets) really aren't a "drum up business" type of advertisement. They are more of a "give to prospective and first-time clients so they have my name handy". If you're looking for a local "drum up business" advertisement, use the local money-mailer / Val Pack coupon packs. Is this a side business you'll do at night (targeting the home market makes me think it is)? If it's not, why not target the small biz market and go to a Chamber of Commerce mixer to hand out your magnets?
