Bridal Wedding Ring Set, Wedding Rings ?
Q: I'm getting married in Sep 01 and I would like anyone's opinion as if it's
to early to buy the wedding rings? we are trying to buy most things now so
we don't have lots of things to pay for nearer the time. any thoughts would
be greatly appreciated.
A:Rings are definitely something you can and probably should buy early. There
are just so many little details to see to the closer you get to your
wedding, so I think you should do the non-time critical stuff as early as
possible. I can't see any reason why you shouldn't get your rings now. I
also had to order my fiance's ring six months in advance because his fingers
are too big and we couldn't get the Celtic design we wanted unless we had it
specially made. If we'd left it too late to get the rings we wouldn't have
been able to get that particular style.
What kind of rings are you interested in? You can get sterling silver ones
pretty cheaply; various types of plain gold bands are also very
reasonable. Platinum ones with diamonds in them are very expensive. You
name a price range, I'll find you a ring :). I suggest you a) figure out
what type of "look" you like in a ring, b) make sure there are no
religious constraints as to what type of ring you must have, c) figure out
how much you can afford to spend, and d) find a reputable, trusted
jeweler! Then you should have no trouble finding rings you like.
My fianceƩ and I have decided to get each other very non traditional rings,
i.e. no diamonds. The diamond industry is set up to place a guilt trip on
starry eyed couples, and put them in debt. Both of us have purchased lovely
rings for the other that include stones that are special to each one of us.
It makes the ring not only more affordable
