Bad Debt From Nationwide Recovery Service
Q: I've hit hard times and have been turned over to a few collection companies. This is not a real problem for me. I'm paying my bills to the best of my abilities. There is one company that I'm having to deal with that when I call and try to make arrangements to pay, they literally laugh at me and advise me that only payment in full is acceptable. There is no possible way for me to pay in full at this time. The main problem that I'm having is with the people at one collection company. They are all (the person handling account, her supervisor, and his supervisor also) extremely rude. They are treating me like a dog. I've been hung up on, laughed at, and even threatened with having my wages garnished. I know that this is likely and have come to live with it, but is there any way to have this account turned over to a different collection company. If I have to be humiliated much more from this company, then I might as well just pay them the full amount and do without food for a month, or file bankruptcy and forget about the bill. I have heard that there is a way to "fire" a collection company and have it turned over to another one. If anyone has information on this please write me asap. Email or posting is fine. I'll keep up to date on this newsgroup for the next day or two. The collection company (Nationwide Recovery Service, Inc. Atlanta, Ga.) has given me 48 hours to comply or they will take matters to a Judge and have my wages garnished. I'm on a tight budget and can't afford for this to happen.Does anyone give me some advice ?
A: Send the collection agency a "Drop Dead" letter by certified mail with return receipt. State that it is a drop dead letter and they are not to contact
