Baby toys have been around for thousands of years. Even the new mothers in the caves had to occupy baby so that they could tend to other important business. Some ancient baby toys were made from gourds, rattlers from snakes and nuts. The items were treated and made into rattles and things to just put into the mouth to teeth with. Teething was and has always been a problem for babies so something to help push those teeth through was always in the making. Usually baby just scavenged around and found their own teething utensils. Other types of baby toys include ride on toys where the toy has wheels and baby scoots along simulating an animal or car. There are stuffed toys in all shapes and sizes. Bears are the oldest and most common and very much collected by the antique dealers. These bears are stuffed with synthetic fibers in present day manufacturing companies. In the past they were stuff with materials such as sawdust, old pieces of clothing, wood shavings and grasses. Other kinds of toys are made from plastic or wood and the manufacturers have had to take extra precautions to be sure there are no sharp edges or parts baby can

swallow or harm him or her self. One of the most treasured baby toys these days are the ones that help baby to sleep. Some baby toys are computerized and have a lasting life. The more durability the happier the parents will be. Lasting for a family of children is well worth the extra money you will spend on a good quality toy. Baby will be able to poke and play for hours until eventually falling off to sleep. The musical toys are the most colorful and give baby visual stimulation as well as audio. With the invention of the baby monitor mother can be busy doing something else and baby will be occupying him or her self while still getting the stimulation needed for a healthy development.
