Baby Products

Baby products are numerous and made by a vast number of manufacturers all over the world. Some of the products started many years ago as experiments in some ones home. As technology developed so did the product line. Baby products were not always hypoallergenic and when used may have developed in rashes on baby's sensitive skin. So the new mother used the old ways taught by her mother and grandmother on baby care. Corn starch was used as a powder and petroleum jelly was used for a wide range of baby parts. Petroleum jelly is still used widely today on baby. Olive oil was used and witch hazel massaged onto baby's little muscles. Earaches were soothed with olive oil and eucalyptus oil was used for a steam when a cold needed soothing. Vicks vapor rub has eucalyptus and menthol as its main ingredients. Other products are baby shampoo with its no more tears claim. It does leave baby's hair soft and shiny. Baby lotion smells so good after the bath and the newer bath products even help baby fall asleep. Q-tips are used for cleaning special little body parts such as the umbilical area and around the ear. Baby powder comes in a different array of scents now not just the regular

powder scent we are accustomed to. Aloe Vera is used in many baby products. Other baby products are medicines such as gripe water for baby's upset stomach, baby vitamins to ensure good nutrition, Tempera drops are used for teething ailments and reduce fever. Strawberry extract is used to reduce gas pain and relieve symptoms of watery stool. Whereas castoria relieves constipation and is used to replenish the electrolytes that if unbalanced can cause dehydration in the little one. Last adding to the list are thermometers including regular and rectal. Present day thermometers can be used by placing on the baby's head while a small electronic meter tells the actual and accurate temperature.
