Baby Blanket

The infamous baby blanket or blankly if you will, is and has been around for centuries. Most likely since the days of the cave dwellers, babies have come to rely on the security of the baby blanket. Mothers have also come to appreciate the substitution for the blanket and their constant attention. Not many baby blankets are made from animal skins these days but the purpose is still the same warmth and a secure feeling. Many babies become so attached to the blanket that they keep it well into their toddler years. A few even make it to adulthood. Sometimes never to be washed. Present day baby blankets are either store bought or homemade. And come in a wide variation of colors patterns and textures. Some more elaborate blankets are made of satin and lace and studded with pearls and gems. The knitted and crocheted baby blankets may come with matching sweaters, hats and booties. Some store bought baby blankets are made with attached hoods and feet resembling a bunting bag for winter. A bunting bag is a snow suit for infants. Like the bag, some blankets come with zippers or buttons. The baby blanket can be purchased almost anywhere that baby items are sold. Wal-mart has a reasonably

priced array of blankets for baby and some theme blankets could be included in the lists that have registered clients. Sears and similar department stores also have a wide selection of baby blankets. In the days of old baby blankets were made from wool that was home spun or made from flour or sugar sacks and patch quilted. Embroidered pieces are being collected and traded all over North America and Europe. Preserving antique baby blankets has become a concern to the collector. Solutions for this problem are being sought all over the internet and newspapers everywhere. Anyone with a new preserving technique should post this either on the internet or simply word of mouth will circulate it.
