BUSINESS TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAM
Q: Hi all. I am J.. and am a faculty member at Mississippi State
University in the Department of Technology and Education where business and
marketing teacher education programs are located. We have several faculty (yes
we are still quite a successful program attracting many very good students)
who are well know to most business teachers in the Southern Business
Education Association and the National Business Education Association. We
are very contemporary in our curriculum and course content. Computers and
their use in helping to solve problems and computers as a mind extention and
work tool are infused into each of our classes. We require several courses
(taught in our department) on computer applications. I could go on, but you
get the idea of the type of business teacher education program that we have.
The internet and its varied uses are used by our faculty and students to
peruse the world for information, research specific topics, communicate with
persons from different cultures, etc., etc. We would like to develop this
window on the world to the extent that we would have business teacher
colleagues (including pre-service teachers, etc.) with whom we could
communicate about topics of interest to the business teacher education field.
A:Sounds like you have a dynamic Business Teacher Education
program going. I like to think our is pretty good here too at the
University of Regina. Let's get together.
You may have noticed that I have been looking for Mentors for students
in my Methods of Teaching Accounting course which runs this semester.
If someone in your department is conducting a comparable course we may
want to get our students together for discussion, contemplation,
assistance and interaction. Let me know on this board or directly
in a personal message - my internet address is below.
