Architects Aren't Engineers
Q: Should architecture courses be given on an institute of technology? Many engineers i've spoken with condemn the fact that architecture is given on a school were studies like mechanical engineering, civil engineering etc. also are given. Architecture should be given on an art school together with interior design and landscape architecture. Who agrees with this?
A: -It sounds to me as if the engineers you've spoken to are for some reason afraid of cross-discipline study. I wonder why that is? Do they feel that the "purity" of their field is somehow compromised by teaching that breaks down the traditional division between science and art? Mixing the two seems to me to be eminently sensible. -Now my experience are somwhat opposite ; the best architects say "yes ,I would like to know more about technology and computers" , and the vorse ones become hot red in their face whenever you just mention the word "computer" , ------- acturly some halve year ago, I met one who bacame that agressive that he could hardly speak, after I said that word.
