America Back On The Rails
After the scare brought on by 9/ll, more and more people are taking trains as another way to travel. Whether for long distance travel or close inter-city trips, the train has always been a reliable means of transportation. This year, Amtrak offers several packages that make traveling easy and affordable for all of us. The Share Fares package is a great way to travel for large parties. Starting from January to September 30, 2005, you can purchase two tickets for the regular price, while the rest of your group—up to four people—only need to pay for 90% of the regular fee! This package is absolutely perfect for students looking for a summer getaway. The family package tours and the auto tours allow families to turn the vacation unto itself: kind of like a cruise on dry land. Unlike being in an airplane, you can have the luxury of a wide bath, a bed, and even have access to the train's onboard bar and entertainment car - all to occupy a restless traveler. And even better news for dad: you can take the family car with you. Save up on rentals by taking your own car. No need to unpack, repack, and carry all the excess luggage when you get to your destination. Just load them up in the car and ride through all your chosen destinations! Children especially will benefit from Amtrak's discounted promo. Children ages 2-15 can enjoy fifty percent off their fares—every day of the week. Each adult is entitled to up to 2 discounted child tickets, as the discounted rates do not apply to children not traveling with an adult. The discounted rate system also apply to senior citizens, students (15% off their student advantage card), veterans (up to 15% on their Veterans Advantage card), AAA members (up to 10% if you use your AAA card), NARP Members (10% on their membership cards) and Military personnel (all military personnel, their spouses and
