Acid Reflux In Toddlers

Q: I'm a new mom of three month old baby boys, one of them seem to have serious problem with his colics up to the point where every time I bottle feed him, he takes three sips and starts screeming and crying a lot for an hour or more. Dr say to change formulas which i've been doing but no change at all. He doesn't loose any weight, he just criesand cries a lot. I'm very concern, even though the Dr, has told me not to worry. But I do. So can anyone tell me , is this normal? or is there something Dr dont' want to tell me. and can anyone tell me, when am I going to get a full night sleep? three months and still bottle feed them every three to four hours every night. Is this normal too? I would apreciate any info that anyone could give me.. Thankyou. Our little girl had colic. That baby didn't just cry, she *screamed*. I was convinced that she made more noise per pound than any creature alive on Earth. They say that babies grow out of colic in three to six months. We're lucky that our baby seems to have more or less grown out of it after about a month and a half. My sister had a colicky baby who went seven months before he stopped crying all the time. Her kid had colic and reflux, same as yours. They went through all the same stuff you're describing. The good news is that, supposedly, colicky babies tend to grown into happy, active toddlers. That seems to be the case with my sister's kid. Our girl isn't a toddler yet, but lately, she's been showing us a very beautiful smile. Anyone has comments about this? Please tell me your views about this problems of acid reflux in toddlers.

A:What you are describing seems to be exactly like my daughter at about 10 weeks of age. At each feed she would have about 2 sips of her formula and then scream in absolute agony. I kept taking her back to her doctors to which I was informed that heartburn usually occurs after a feed, and we knew it wasn't from the formula as she had already been diagnosed with lactose intolerance and had stomach surgery. Anyway, after spending a night in the hospital for the nursing staff to observe her they diagnosed severe heartburn, colic and reflux(which we already knew she had). She was prescibed a medication (they tried Milanta which was useless) which she had until

she was about 6 months of age and I had to use a specific bottle that is used for children with severe colic and for children with abnormalities of the mouth, and the change was amazing. To me it sounds like heartburn and I would just keep insisting on another opinion. If it is heartburn it is quite painful and we found that for awhile as described by her pediatrician that she associated the bottle with pain and refused it even though the heartburn was under control. I know that at the moment it seems like you have no control and it is very emotionally and physically exhausting but once it is diagnosed things slowly get back into normality if that word can be used, take care,
