A Hog Auction: Auction Your Motorcycle

Like everything there are many different options to auction an item off - you can put it for sale online yourself or you can give it to an auction house to handle. The catch is that motorcycles are a slightly different animal. Motorcycles are not a five-dollar item that you just want out of your house - they are a bigger and more expensive item that you may still want out of your house but profit is a consideration too. Mainly this is because motorcycles like cars have titles that must be transferred in order to take full ownership of it. Its not enough to pay for the motorcycle and drive off no questions asked; it’s never that simple. After the auction has ended and the winning bidder is determined the owner must then sign the title over to the seller to complete the transaction legally. The most common way to transfer a title is by going to the court house to sign the paper work and make it official. Motor vehicles must be registered with the state so the police can see who the vehicle belongs to. The online aspect of auctioning off such things as motorcycles is an interesting one but it puts a monkey wrench in the plan when the seller is in New York and the buyer is in California. The buyer and the seller have the option to meet up somewhere to finish the transaction. It is possible to complete the transaction without meeting

but the problem you have is to get the item to the buyer from the seller and shipping an item like a motorcycle can be an expensive endeavor. While online is a possibility the motorcycle will most likely be sold to a local who can go and inspect the motorcycle in person and complete the transaction in person. This is how the miles stay low by not having to drive across country; the cost is lower since no shipping is needed and the buyer can just pick the bike up. Everything involved it may just be easier to take the bike to an auction house to sell so it can be handled by them and can be placed in an auction with other motorcycles of its kind in order to get a slightly better price for it.
