3D Glasses: A Retro Trend?

3D glasses have been around for generations and have enhanced the visual experience. Theaters were once filled with movie goers sporting 3D glasses, making the action appear to leap off the screen. 3D glasses are making a comeback and are being used in some creative ways. The 3D glasses of old were made up of red and blue lenses with a paper or thin cardboard holding all the pieces together. The 3D glasses were passed out at the time the movie tickets were purchased and donned by the audience at the commencement of the motion picture. Movie audiences would react in unison as the images from the screen would elicit responses. In recent years, 3D glasses have enjoyed a resurrection of sorts. With the veritable explosion of popularity in video and computer games, old 3D technology is being brought back to life

with added technology. Video game players can purchase up-graded, more advanced versions of the 3D glasses worn forty to fifty years ago to create a more life-like playing environment. Action games in particular are becoming more popular with 3D glasses users. The action elements of the game are no longer experienced in 2 dimensions, being played out on a flat screen. With new 3D glasses, the characters and settings seem almost real enough to touch. With the retro craze that has swept the country over the last several years, it is little wonder that it reaches beyond fashion, and dips into forms of entertainment. 3D glasses are coming back in strength, right along with bell bottom jeans.
