Martial Arts Injury? President Chuck Norris of Texas

Will Bunch | Mar 10

Philly.com - That was fast. It was just one year ago that right-wing martial arts guru Chuck Norris was a sought-after "get" for the GOP presidential candidates like Mike Huckabee, who paraded the star of "Walker, Texas Ranger" around the nation after the anti-abortion actor endorsed him in the primaries.

But now it's 2009, Barack Obama is in the White House, and the inventor of chun kuk do is preaching the martial art of insurrection against the U.S. government. He also wants to run for -- and no, I'm not making this up -- "the president of Texas.":

The call by some right wing leaders for rebellion and for the military to refuse the commander in chief’s orders is joined by Chuck Norris who claims that thousands of right wing cell groups have organized and are ready for a second American Revolution. During an appearance on the Glen Beck radio show he promised that if things get any worse from his point of view he may “run for president of Texas.” The martial artist/actor/activist claims that Texas was never formally a part of the United States in the first place and that if rebellion is to come through secession Texas would lead the way.

Norris really comes close to crossing a line with this:

Norris claims that; “Thousands of cell groups will be united around the country in solidarity over the concerns for our nation.” The right wing cells will meet during a live telecast, "We Surround Them," on Friday March 13 at 5 p.m.

He closes with the words of Sam Houston followed by a plug for his next martial arts event.

“We view ourselves on the eve of battle."

the thought of him running makes me sick...

then maybe we give Chuck Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. Deal!

I'm being sarcastic but my casual disregard will be a minority opinion if Chuck keeps up with this. He'll be greeted with a resounding chorus of "Adios Amigo" or something else beginning with Adios by the majority of the country.

We've moving in and out of our Caligula phase of decadence among the elite and in government. I'd bet that Bush would equal the Emperor's appointment to the Senate. With Obama, there's no chance for that type of epic irrationality.

Maybe Bush could be King of Texas and Chuck could be president, a parliamentary deal.

If Texas does go indy, you just know they'll be back for foreign aid;). We could have concerts for that effort.

Mr. Norris advises the hopeless to gather strength and join him and Glenn Beck in a rally of true patriots

For those losing hope, and others wanting to rekindle the patriotic fires of early America, I encourage you to join Fox News' Glenn Beck, me and millions of people across the country in the live telecast, "We Surround Them," on Friday afternoon (March 13 at 5 p.m. ET, 4 p.m. CT and 2 p.m. PST). Thousands of cell groups will be united around the country in solidarity over the concerns for our nation. You can host or attend a viewing party by going to Glenn's website. My wife Gena and I will be hosting one from our Texas ranch, in which we've invited many family members, friends and law enforcement
to join us. It's our way of saying "We're united, we're tired of the corruption, and we're not going to take it anymore!"

At the very end of this press release, Chuck Norris invites everyone to attend his martial arts event in Houston - "Show Down in Ho-Town!" Oh wait, sorry, that's "Show Down in H-Town." I wasn't aware Houston had given itself a nickname, since most of us know it as the home of the Bushes.

So, if the corruption in our country has gotten too much for you, the man who is going to make it right is a has-been actor and part-time hawker of exercise equipment, who is exploiting a supposed popular revolution in order to advertise his latest martial arts convention.

happened to the good old days when we were told that we had to stand behind the president because he was the president? Oh, wait, never mind...

right there, that's it. just like Tina says below about the RS brigade, imagine if. all this oneway-ism is enough to make me even consider reading Coulter's book, 'Treason'.

this is an abrogation of reason in the most literal of senses. Al Gore wrote about the assault on reason but i don't think it's been completely clear that quite simply there literally is a mass abrogation of reason (at least it hadn't been that clear to me). it makes me think of the congenital liar who has no idea he is lying.

I can see the appeal, but it's fucking scary that this guy has how much air time everyday across the entire nation. I was afraid this would happen when Obama got elected. we may very well have to return to the fairness doctrine, or spend every penny fighting this doctrine of hate. hate sells so much better, tho.

1. America is good.

2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.

3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.

4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.

5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.

6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.

7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.

8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.

9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.

... to recognize cause and effect, much less complex thinking. And, that it what worries me about these dim-bulbs. In a Country where the elites of the NY-Washington nexus gamble away trillions, these are the kind of people that will go out and harass some undocumented immigrant!

I do enjoy the use of "right wing'" and "cell" in the same sentence.

is that it will raise the level of seriousness about this nonsense among the people that old Chuck Norris will be asking to join him. An all-volunteer suicide brigade likes to be pretty darn sure why they're all about to sacrifice their lives.

What's the plan, Chuck? We take over the police station? But, um, my brother Bill works there, Chuck, and he's not with us.

Gosh, war is complicated after you wake up.

What the hell do they think this means? That they or their "cells" are so numerous, and they're so well armed, that they can surround and intimidate the rest of us? I guess we'll find out on the 13th.

We are witnessing the beginning of the downfall of his beloved dominator culture. He feels he is losing his footing. He is lost like a child in the woods - confused, afraid, angry. Dominating is all he's ever known. He 's in a trance ... what he needs is a good kick in the ass to bring him out of his stupor. We must take him by the hand and tell him that everything is going to be alright, to have no fear because what's on the other side is ... a new kind of energy, a force that is powerful and crucial if he desires the survival of his and our planet. Change or perish!

Even wingnut Wayne LaPierre will be afraid to put him onstage at NRA conventions. For all their bluster, Wayne and the boys don't REALLY want to have their asses shot off by a bunch of war-twisted National Guardsman fresh from their sixth stint in Iraq.

After all, NRA members are chicken hawks. All for the war, none for the fight.

Maybe you can scare them with your karate, Chuck. Maybe they'll cheer you as a hero before they find out you are buddies with the guys that sent them to a couple needless wars.
