Thailand censures The Economist for its article on the King

Not listed to protect him | Thailand | Dec. 4, 2008

The Economist - Thailand has banned the publication The Economist because of an article about the King.

With Sean Paul's travels here, I thought this might be very relevant.

If one is in Thailand one must be very careful about articles and general speech regarding the King. There is an Australian man (a writer) in Chiang Mai who's looking at serious jail time for his writings about Thailand. As a reference, I've been here for more than 6 years and pay a lot of attention to the atmosphere here.

Hope this is helpful.

the wholistic situation here in Thailand. Paul Watson's reporting is excellent, but this article is like whip cream on top of a sundae. Damn good. It was also nice to see the Economist confirming the rumor I got from someone about the queen's meddling in the situation with the PAD. Thanks for posting!
